This week's XCLUSIVE!
Boybands have been making teenage girls swoon
since the 1960’s with their good looks, charm and catching songs that profess a
romantic kind of love. But what happens when the boys, not to mention their
devoted fans, grow up? While most step away from the limelight to be eagerly
replaced by a younger generation, there are some exceptions to the rule! Celebrating 20 years in the music industry, the Backstreet
Boys (aka BSB) are certainly back in full force for 2013, with their eighth
studio album “In A World Like This”,
released this summer!
Growing up, they were my favourite band; an
all American vocal harmony group that sang as good as they looked. With 130
million worldwide record sells to their name they are the best selling boyband of
all time. And the anticipation of their comeback as a recently reunited quintet
reached boiling point at their exclusive album preview gig on
Sunday 30th June at new London music venue “Under The Bridge”; an intimate and informal setting that provided an
up close and personal experience for the audience. I was more than a little
excited to have nabbed my gold dust ticket to the event!
Even before BSB stepped out on stage the atmosphere had started to sizzle.
With the soundtrack of BSB’s past global hits including ‘As Long As You Love
Me’, ‘All I Have To Give’ and ‘Everybody’ pumping through the sound system, the
audience, predominately in their early 30s, were transported back to the giddy
frenzy of their youth, cosseted in a warm sense of nostalgia - ahh to be
fifteen again! By the time the boys had made their entrance, the anticipation
was palpable, and rightly so as we were all in for a treat; the evening events
including a Q&A with the band, a sneak peak at both the new Backstreet Boys
album and the upcoming movie-documentary as well as fantastic live performances
of a select few new tracks and interjected with light hearted banter.
Song highlights destined for future
chart domination include chilled out love ditty “Trust Me”; with gentle guitars and a Jack Johnson vibe, it soothes
like a cool breeze on a warm summer days. “Show
Em (What You’re Made Of)” an invigorating, morale-boosting anthem and “Make Believe” a pure pop fest underlined
with a stomping club beat.
Welcome back boys! “A World Like This” Is released in the UK on
the 29th July 2013.
