A Special Tribute To A Star - Sandra Bilika

Like many of the community I was so saddened to hear of the recent passing of LGR radio presenter and actress Sandra Bilika. The first time I 'met' Sandra was on the airwaves as a shy seven year old listener, calling up to sing 'Roulla Mou Maroulla Mou' for my mum on her name day and she let me sing the whole song live on air – her enthusiasm and encouragement spurring me on. I didn't know then that I'd get to meet the lovely lady herself and one day we'd be colleagues. In person she showed the same kindness and generosity of spirit with her time as she always did on the radio; a courageous and charismatic woman that was a mentor to so many of us. Sandra’s generous spirit, talent and passion for her music will always be remembered and cherished – her legacy.

New Music!

Greek popstar favourite Kostas Martakis returns to the music scene with a new release entitled “Monos Mou”, composed by musician and singer Stelios Rokkos. The latest single for Martakis is a romantic ballad of love lost to melt the heart.  Don’t worry Kostas, I’m sure you won’t be alone for long.  Will he now ladies? 

Despina Vandi is also in a collaborative mood this Autumn; her latest musical offering a composition by Giorgos Sampanis and Eleni Giannatsoulia. “Kane Kati” is an intense and rousing love ballad. The third single, following ‘Kalimera’ and ‘Ola Allazoun’ set to feature on her upcoming album due for release in November.

Live In London!

 Don’t forget for one night only popular Greek singer Antonis Remos will be performing live in London at The Forum (Kentish Town) on Sunday 2nd November 2014. With an illustrious career spanning almost two decades and hit singles that include ‘Monos Mou’, ‘Kardia Mou Min Anisiheis’ and ‘Sti Fotia’, audiences will undoubtedly be in for a treat. Tickets are priced at £35 (standing downstairs) and £45 (unreserved seating) from ticketmaster.co.uk
