Christos Anesti to all our lovely readers! Time now to step away from the leftover Souvla and Easter eggs and indulge in this week’s Xclusives!
Eurovision beckons…
The biggest annual
European song contest is just around the corner, and Greece’s representatives Freaky Fortune & Risky Kidd are in the middle of their promo
tour ahead of their participation in the contest, where they’ll be performing
13th in the second semi-final. The small troupe has high hopes for
their song “Rise Up” in the competition and recently revealed the message
behind the track and why they hope it will take Europe by storm:
“To us it is not just a dance song… it is a movement! The
urge to rise up above difficulties inspired us to compose Rise Up. We…
the young people of Europe are especially, and in a way mostly, influenced by
the financial crisis and in some cases by political imbalances. Are we going to
surrender to all those things that put us down? We rise up by looking to the
world through the prism of youth, the angle of creativity and optimism and we
want the whole Europe with us… We hope that this message will dance-on Europe
and become the soundtrack of what we currently perceive as one of the most
uplifting movements … the “Rise Up” movement!"
If you’re not in
the mood to hit the dance floor and are instead in need of a little R&R,
Freaky Fortune & Co have it sorted with their mellow “summer nostalgia” mix
released this week to accompany the original version.
The 59th Eurovision Song Contest
will be taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark for 2014 with two semi-final heats 6th
and 8th May ahead of the Grand Final on Saturday 10th May
which will be broadcast live on BBC 1.
